CROSSROADS YOUTH NEWSLETTER—JULY 2010

FIREWORKS STAND

The last days of the Fireworks Stand are always busy, so if you are available, please at least check and make sure we are adequately covered.  Remember, several of our youth are gone on the band trip these last days, so if you are around, we need YOU!  No one particularly likes to be working on July 4 (picnics, parties etc… are much more enjoyable), BUT if we all pitch in and help some, then the same people don’t have to do it all. 

Clean-up will begin on Monday, July 5 at 9:00am.  Please come help!!

YOUTH SERVICE

On Sunday, July 11, Jodie Hollern will be leading the worship services as part of her experience with Youtheology.  She would like much youth participation in this, plan to be here and be involved!

YOUTH COUNCIL

Youth Council WILL meet on Sunday, July 11 at 4:00 even though most other Super Sunday groups will not be meeting.  We did not meet in June because of the mission trip, so we need to meet this month.  Following the meeting, we will go to Herrera’s for a picnic.

PICNIC

On Sunday, July 11, we will meet at Herrera’s for a picnic, volleyball and games.  Please plan to join us at their house at 2172 Morningside.

ROYALS GAME

We have tickets to a Royals game on Friday, July 16.  The game starts at 7:10, so plan to leave at 4:30.  This is a “buck night” so all hot dogs, drinks and peanuts are $1.00.  Please sign up on the bulletin board. 

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

VBS this year is a family VBS, so our help is not needed in the same way it has been in the past.  VBS runs from July 18-21 and you are welcome to join them if you are interested.  Extra hands are always useful.  We will meet at the Peter Pan Park shelter on Sunday, July 18 for Crossroads.  We will join VBS for part of it and be on our own for part of it.

WORLDS OF FUN/OCEANS OF FUN

The annual conference sponsored trip to WOF/OOF is Monday, August 2.  We will leave Emporia at 8:00am and return around 11:00pm.  A lunch buffet is part of your ticket price.  We will pack lunches for the evening meal.  We will have some cooler space available.  Sign up on the bulletin board if you are interested in going.  Registration deadline is

HOLY LAND TRIP

The Kansas East conference is sponsoring a youth trip to the Holy Land over Spring Break 2011.  The brochure with all the details is on the bulletin board.

YOUTH WEEK

Youth Week is that special time of year when we welcome new 7th graders into our group and celebrate who we are as a group.  This year, Youth Week will be August 4-9.  I know this overlaps with the fair, but it is very difficult to avoid this conflict.  Mark your calendars and plan to join us for everything you can!

CHILDCARE NEEDS

We need childcare on Wednesdays from 5:45-8pm through September 8.  In addition we will need childcare on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month from

4-6pm.  If you are interested in either of these opportunities please contact Cindy or Barb.  You can sign up for one evening or as many evenings as you would like.
